About Alperen

Hi Everyone

I’m Alperen Ovak — a Computer Engineering student with a minor in Entrepreneurship at Middle East Technical University (METU), Türkiye 🇹🇷. Throughout my academic and extracurricular journey, I’ve had the opportunity to cross over multiple disciplines, blending technology, leadership, and social impact.

I led the AI/ML team at GDSC METU, where I gave weekly TensorFlow lessons and mentored project teams. Later, I became the Community Lead, organizing major tech events with Google and Microsoft speakers and growing one of the most active student communities on campus.

I’ve built real-world solutions through tech:

  • Co-developed two award-winning apps that became Top 100 global finalists in the Google Solution Challenge (2023 & 2024), focusing on disaster response and women’s health.
  • Took part in AI-based research projects on media archives and astronomy with professors and international teams.
  • Completed software engineering internships, where I contributed to web platforms, anomaly detection systems and game development.
