WE ALL CLAIM TO BE DEVELOPERS TILL WE ARE CHALLENGED TO A TASK THEN WE KNOW THE WEIGHT BEHIND THOSE WORDS My Journey through Buildforsdg challenge. image

I started my journey with Andela in 2019 when I was accepted into GADS2019, a programme of Andela with Google where I made it to the end of learning phase 2 of the training. image

Because of my quest for tech knowledge, I went further with Andela in the DEVCTRAINING WITH ANDELA 2019 where we were trained on web and project management technologies. Early this year I received an email from the same organization Devctraining with Andela inviting me to the buildforsdg challenge. A challenge to solve SDG problems. The selection assessment was my very first interaction with git workflow action where certain activities performed behind the scenes to give a pass or fail result, besides that was the discovery of using web.dev to test web performance and accessibility. At the end I was excited to be among the shortlisted participants. I was assigned to team-044, a seven man team and I was made the Technical Team Lead on an agreement by all the team members. The greatest thing I learned was how hard it is, to coordinate and relate with people of different thought but with the help of our mentor a problem was agreed upon to be solved!. We agreed to tackle Zero hunger, problem statement one of SDG goal 2. The day task was assigned mark the end of response from one-third of the team both on the channel and in the DM. image

We successfully built an app that connects farmers with the consumers of their farm produces, by providing a means of selling to farmers and buying for consumers, other vital but not limited to features of the app is easy access to veterinary doctors to manage the farmers livestock and also a weather forecast of every farm. Farmers can chat in real time with consumers and doctors. The project was built on a MERN stack: reactjs, nodejs, mongodb and also jest, git and GitHub etc. It was started to be hard when seven mens job became two man’s job. Glory be to God. image

It is highly recommended to give thanks to good and concerned individuals, number one person is my partner in the challenge (the team mate that withstand the wind) Oluwatosin Jimoh , followed by my and our mentor Mr Oluwaseun Olorunsola, the man helped in so many ways ranging from physical and technical advice. You support us 100%, thanks so much sir and also to all the program assistants and managers, you all did an amazing job. Thanks so much, looking forward to learn more.
